Below is a list of questions which are frequently asked by individuals and businesses enquiring about our services. We have provided answers to these questions here.   • What is self storage?

    Self Storage is a service that offers both residential and businesses users access to individual secure storage space. The storage rooms Shurgard offers are secure, clean and dry and are accessible - free of charge - using a personal access code and key from 5.30am to 10pm, 7 days a week at most stores. Shurgard strives to offer a solution to each situation.

  • How reliable is Shurgard?

    Shurgard is part of Public Storage, an international company noted at the New York Stock Exchange.  Shurgard is an active member of the country’s Self Storage Association and is striving to meet the highest industry quality standards.

  • What kind of security is there?

    All our stores are monitored by security cameras. You are the only one with access to your room, which is locked with a specifically designed cylinder type lock owned by you. The lock is unique and only you hold the keys. You use a personal electronic access code to access the premises.

  • How much space do I need?

    We suggest you use our online size estimator to determine the size that fits your need. You can calculate this based on the size of your home, the vehicle size you will use to move your belongings or number of boxes that you need to store. If you are unsure, our well-trained store managers can help you determine the right size.

  • What is the minimum rental period? Is there a maximum?

    The minimum rental period is one month. You can store for as long as you want, there is no maximum rental period. Contracts are automatically renewed on a monthly basis.

  • How quickly can I move in?

    You can move in on the same day as you make your enquiry providing that you have the relevant documentation needed to complete and sign your contract. This will include photographic ID and a utility bill or bank statement. Payment of a deposit and a full month’s rental must be made prior to moving in. Please check with your store team.

  • Can you help me with my removals?

    Yes. We have partnerships with trusted local removal and van hire companies and can either deal directly with them on your behalf or refer you to them to make your own arrangements. Please ask you store team for more information.

  • What does it cost?

    The cost of a storage room depends on the size you need. We suggest you use our online size estimator to determine the room size that fits your need. Click here to request an exact price quotation.
    Your room rent will be invoiced monthly in advance. The invoices work on a full month basis meaning that you will receive 12 invoices a year.

  • Are there additional costs?

    Prices include VAT where applicable. Please note that insurance is not included in the rental rate. You will also be asked to purchase a custom made cylinder style lock which has been designed to provide the highest security for your belongings.

  • How does the 1 kr. promotion work?

    Offer valid for new customers only, selected units only. Excludes costs of lock, insurance and administration fee. Contact your local store for more details.

  • What about insurance?

    Shurgard can provide insurance for your goods while in storage. Please ask your store team.

  • How do I order packing materials?

    Please visit our online packing materials shop to order your boxes, bubblewrap, tape and other packing requirements. We cannot as yet deliver packing supplies to you at home, however your order will be ready for you to collect at the store of your choice the same day your order. Payment takes place when you collect your order.

  • How can I buy packing material?

    Shurgard offers a wide range of boxes, bubble wrap, tape and other packing materials. These can be purchased at all the Shurgard stores during our office opening hours. Click here to find a Shurgard store near you.

  • How can I pay?

    Payment can be made by cash, cheque of Dankort. You can also pay by direct debit and netbanking.

  • When can I access my storage room?

    Our customers benefit from extensive opening hours, from 5.30am to 10.00pm. Access is free of charge at all our stores. The office at the store is open for any queries Monday to Friday from 10.00am - 6.00pm and Saturday from 10.00am to 2.00pm.

  • Can I move to another room if I need more or less space?

    You are welcome to move to another room at any time as your requirements change.

  • How do I cancel a lease?

    We require a notice of your intention to vacate your room. Notice must be given in writing, either by fax, post or e-mail. You will receive a confimation on your cancellation.
